ABBA is a non-profit organisation. The staff do not receive a salary, even those who work there full-time. The Casa Semear project does not generate any reliable income of it's own. Casa Semear is run entirely through charitable giving. Here in Scotland we have a core team of people who are dedicated to helping raise the financial support needed to sustain the staff and the work. We do all that we can to promote the work of Casa Semear, to encourage not only financial support but to generate interest in the project and gather prayer support across Scotland.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS 2011
BIG LIVE SHOW
What:
Live music, updates on how last year's fundraising efforts were spent, entertainment for the whole family! Myself and the band have been rehearsing hard to make this year's show even better than last year. We'll be singing some songs that y'all know and love! Back by popular demand we will have the wonderful Alex Russell who stole the show at least year's event! We also have original music from local artist, Andy Craig. I'll be showing you a little bit of how last year's fundraising efforts were spent, what last year's team got upto on our three week trip to help with the building work at Casa Semear, and we'll be seeing how much money we can raise this year!
Why:
A small portion of the money will be raised to help me while I am out in Brazil this summer but the majority of the money will be raised to help pay for a five day camp for the favela children who attend Casa Semear on a regular basis. Last year I got to go with the children to the camp and help out and I have seen just how important it is for the children who go. For many of them they have never left their own town before, and family holidays are certainly not an option when their families struggle to provide for their basic daily needs. For these children it is a chance to get a break from the difficulties they face at home every day. For some childre that includes an escape from broken families, neglect, abuse or responsibilities and duties of care. It is an opportunity for them to play, to build up food friendships and to just be children. The camp costs around £1000 and none of the children are asked to pay to attend - otherwise none of them could go! There are currently no funds for the camp and if the money doesn't come in then the camp cannot happen. If the Big Live Show can raise part of, or the whole, £1000 to give to Casa Semear then we can financially guarentee that the camp can go ahead.
