Summer 2011

Many people have been asking when I'm going away, what I'll be doing while I'm gone and if I'm doing any fundraising. So, I thought I'd update here to communicate as much as possible to those who would like to know. I'll be able to give you latest updates not only on my trip but also share the latest news from Casa Semear and the work that is going on there.

This summer I will be away in Brazil from 8th July - 1st September to spend more time working with the missionary organisation  ABBA, particularly with their project "Casa Semear". The reason I'm returning is to 'test the waters' for the possibility of a long-term move to Brazil as a missionary. This trip will be an opportunity for me to experience more of life in Brazil and will hopefully give me some more to reflect on and consder as I make my decisions about the future.  See the 'Casa Semear' page for more info about the project.

Saturday 21st May at KBC

Fundraising - KBC have already been kind enough to give me a grant to help with flight costs. Last year the team put in a huge effort to fundraise for Casa Semear prior to our trip. We held one fundraiser a month, resulting in the collection of around £12,000. This year my efforts will be significantly smaller! I'll be hosting another Big Live Show at KBC on Saturday 21st May to help raise money for the kids camp. The band have been busy rehearsing and the programme is slowly but surely coming together with only 8 weeks to go. If you are interested in coming along please get in touch. Communication - I anticipate that while I'm away I'll try to post here every couple of days and email out a general news letter once a week. Internet connection in Brazil is a tad less reliable than over here so it depends entirely on internet accessibility. I also have a small support team at KBC who will be my main point of contact while I'm away. If you'd like to know who they so that you can speak to them, just let me know. If I'm very lucky I may also be able to skype a few people as well.
